'Kentish Town'

I have come across a neat phrase that sums up the thinking that led to Diane Abbott's travails, 'competitive grievance', in the sense of a person alleging that their community's suffering is worse than another community's suffering. We are in the world of moral equivalence, a hopeless rabbit hole.

I needed to top up the screenwash in the car, first time with this one. The operation was ultimately a success. Opening the bonnet initially was not.

It's fun researching the area where you live. Am slightly late with publishing July's effort, due to preparing a talk for the Camden Local Studies and Archives centre at Holborn Library. 'From Fields to Focaccia' looks at Kentish Town, an underappreciated part of North London. I've been asked to repeat the talk at Kentish Town Library in the Autumn. 

That's the nearest I've got to a commercial in writing this stuff.

Reports continue of how easy it is to steal high-tech keyless cars. Apparently Jaguars, Land Rovers and Range Rovers are especially popular for nicking. As manufacturers' technology develops, so does the capability of thieves to respond. Great British innovation at play here.

Beginning of the month. I am missing Trump. I am missing that there was always something to write about him. With the new incumbent, there is just not the same buzz in speculating on whether the President enjoyed a refreshing afternoon nap.
